Bel-Air Episode 5 Recap and Ending Explained

Because ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ is a sitcom, the setting is naturally limited. The reboot, being an updated and dramatized version, does not have the same issue. This has allowed ‘Bel-Air’ to more authentically depict the Banks family’s wealth and power. Everything about them is huge and flashy, perfectly resonating with the decadence that many associate with Los Angeles’ upper elite.

Will (Jabari Banks) learns that Rashad has been killed in Episode 4 of ‘Bel-Air.’ This effectively eliminates Will’s motivation to remain in Bel Air. The series instantly addresses this issue, and Will is pushed to make decisions that will have long-term ramifications in his personal and school lives. Here’s all you need to know about the episode 5 finale of ‘Bel-Air.’ WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD.

Recap of Bel-Air Episode 5

Tray arrives in Los Angeles from Philadelphia in Episode 5, dubbed ‘PA to LA.’ Like Will before him, he is captivated by the Banks family’s money and the access it affords them. Phil (Adrian Holmes) arranges for him and Will to be VIP attendees at a D Smoke show. They even get to interact with the well-known rapper. [In the original series, Will had a friend named Tray, however he is referred to as Ice Tray. In a season 1 episode, a young Don Cheadle plays him]. Will and Tray are overjoyed to be reunited on ‘Bel-Air.’

However, Tray quickly finds that Will has reservations about returning to West Philly, and a feud between the two childhood friends emerges. As a result, Tray returns to Philadelphia earlier than he was meant to. Meanwhile, Hilary (Coco Jones) prepares to shift to the Crib of Influence’s residence. Her parents organize a dinner for her future housemates and realize that these influential people are highly accomplished.

The house leader, Kylo, is a lifestyle YouTuber. A travel vlogger is also available. Monica, the third member, is a “leading sex-positive relationship advice counselor.” There are also Jared and Nathan, two African-American brothers who work as stuntmen and pranksters. They play a trick on the Banks family after dinner, disturbing them once more about Hilary’s impending future.

An drunken Tray tells Carlton why Will is in Bel-Air and how Phil used his connections to get Will out of police custody. Carlton confronts his father and Will, telling the latter to keep away from him and Lisa. Ashley (Akira Akbar) converses with Monica. It’s a scenario that could easily have gone wrong, but the writers of ‘Bel-Air’ handle it with care, and the entire chat ends up being rather enlightening — not just for Ashley, but also for audience members who may be dealing with similar concerns.

Later, Ashley opens out to Hilary about her love for her female buddy. Viv initially tries to rediscover her artistic sensibilities. She meets Reed Broderick, who appears to be an art dealer. They appear to have a past together as well. Reed informs Viv that he has reserved a space for her in his art gallery. This motivates Viv to complete her first work in years.

Will Will Return to West Philadelphia at the end of Bel-Air Episode 5?

Viv chooses to speak with her sister about extending Will’s stay in Bel-Air after discovering that he now has to return because the matter in West Philadelphia has been settled — albeit violently. Vy, on the other hand, dismisses the concept right away. Her husband abandoned her and Will when Will was still a child. It’s just been her and her son since then. They have probably been apart for the longest time in the last few weeks.

Will, on the other hand, understands during the course of this episode that he can’t go back to his old life. Bel Air provides him with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and opens up a plethora of future possibilities. Tray notices that his best friend is having second thoughts and deduces that he has already made up his mind. They argue, and Tray flees. Will later informs his mother that he does not want to return to Philadelphia. In an emotional scene, he recalls how mother constantly encouraged him to see the world outside West Philly. And living in Bel Air will provide him the opportunity to do so. Vy’s heart is plainly broken, but she understands her son’s decision.
