Studio Kinema Citrus created this popular animation series based on the Japanese manga series of the same name. It follows Riko, an orphaned girl who lives in the Belchero Orphanage in Orth, a fictitious town. The settlement is encompassed by the Abyss, a mysterious huge hole. The location contains a few relics, and Cave Raiders use it for hunting. There is, however, a curse associated with the Abyss. As a result, the deeper someone walks into it, the more powerful the curse becomes.

Made In Abyss Season 2: Renewal Status!

The first season, as we all know, aired in 2017. Kinema Citrus, the animation company, waited several months to renew Made In Abyss Season 2. The renewal announcement came after the sequel film, Dawn Of the Deep Soul, revealed the shocking news. The “To be continued” statement was removed from the credits of the sequel film.

The anime’s official website confirmed the series’ comeback for a second season the next day. However, some ardent fans speculated that the planned sequel would be a second feature. But, unfortunately, it is not going to happen. There are numerous storylines to explore, some of which may be different to wrap up in another film. As a result, the studio is gearing up for Made In Abyss Season 2.

Is Production For Made In Abyss Season 2 Started?

So far, the anime’s official website hasn’t revealed anything about the production. However, on May 6, 2021, the company officially revealed the key art, indicating that development was in the works. Typically, it takes approximately ten months or a year to complete an animation project. Given that the trailer was released by the end of 2021, we can safely assume that production has already concluded.

Who Will Return Is Teased in a Key Visual

The studio released a new key visual earlier this April, focused on three primary characters, Riko, Nanachi, and Reg. Based on the context, it appears that they are traveling deeper into Abyss, possibly in pursuit of Riko’s mother. Aside from that, the key art has confirmed the title of the sequel, Made In Abyss: The Golden City Of The Scorching Sun. Sentai Filmworks also licensed the second anime series.

Made In Abyss Season 2: What Will Happen Next?

Riko, Nanachi, and Reg joined Bondrewd’s base, Ido Front, in the sequel film. There, they were greeted by a girl named Prushka, who asked if they were her father’s guests. Bondrewd appeared and assisted them in entering the sixth stratum. Prushka and Riko later bond as she shows her around the property and introduces her to her pet, Meinya. But things took a dramatic turn when Umbra Hands began his experiment on Reg and severed his arm.

Bondrewd speaks to them about transferring his consciousness after a terrible combat. He did, in fact, make Prushka into a cartridge. Riko was visibly unhappy after knowing this. But soon after, a stone-like object emerged from the cartridge. So Riko wraps it around her neck and embarks on her mission. To get deeper into the Abyss, they’ll need a White Whistle, and the stone they obtained will help them make one. This implies that they can easily go deeper. They must, however, locate certain other elements, which may take some time to locate.

Trailer Hints At New Exploration

The first trailer for Made In Abyss Season 2 was released on November 21, 2021 by the animation studio. Riko’s attention is drawn to the compass needle, which is perfectly straight. It implies that they are getting closer to their desired and ideal city, The Golden City Of The Scorching Sun. She and her crew embark on an expedition to locate the city. Fortunately, the compass needle gives them a hint. Furthermore, the promo implies that they will discover an isolated island from which their new mission would begin.
