When Tsubame enters the room with forms for the cultural festival, he begins to act strangely and appears to flush when she gives him a hug from behind. Kaguya realizes he has affections for her and starts pressuring him to declare it. When he doesn’t, she starts to demotivate him by telling him that he’ll never be able to impress her. She eventually states, though, that she wants him to make Tsubame his girlfriend regardless of what he does.

Ishigami finally begins to open up a little, but admits that Tsubame is out of his league. Kaguya advises him to concentrate on second-semester academic examinations and get a good rank, as she would love to date an intellectual person herself, being a top-ranking student. In the days that follow, Ishigami prepares for the examinations with zeal, while the politics among student council members vying for the top spot heats up.

Kaguya is aware that Ishigami has always failed in life and hence seeks to challenge himself. As a result, she spent a significant amount of time ensuring that he did not leave any stone unturned in his profession. Despite all of his efforts, he only earned a rank of 152, which was a great improvement but still far from what the titular protagonist expected of him. Meanwhile, Miyuki was ranked first, while Kaguya had to settle for second place.

While Ishigami was obviously disappointed with the results, Kaguya, as her mentor, encouraged him to keep trying and wait for the next tests. Later, Chika invites Kaguya to a dinner party at the Fujiwara residence and informs her that Kei and Miyuki will also be attending. The thought of a night out with the President piques Kaguya’s interest, and she asks whether the dinner party may be held tonight. However, because Chika’s father is not at home at the time, she invites herself to a night out at the Vice-President of the Student Council’s residence.

So, ever since her initial visit to Kaguya, Hayasaka has disguised herself as a man in order to conceal her true identity. She informs Chika, as Mr. Herthaka, that she is a war orphan who skipped a few grades and graduated from Harvard. Chika still believes that Mr. Herthaka is an exceptionally brilliant man who simply works for the Shiromiya household for fun.

During her sleepover with Fujiwara, does Kaguya reveal who she loves?

Kaguya has a horrible tendency of traveling too far at 11:00 p.m. every night, and she follows her timetable meticulously without ever being late. However, after she and Chika had finished their dinner and gone to bed, the latter continued to converse about a variety of topics. After midnight, Kaguya couldn’t think straight when Chika mentioned that she thought Ishigami liked Tsubame. She then stated that she believes the President is also in love, but she is unsure of who the lucky girl is.

While Miyuki maintains that their suspicions are unfounded, her sister removes the phone from his grasp and informs them that he can’t stop smiling while messaging, implying that he has a crush. As they try to figure out who that is, Chika misinterprets everything and concludes that Miyuki likes Mr. Herthaka.

While she is using the restroom, Kaguya snatches her phone and, while she is sleeping, quizzes the President about who he genuinely loves. When he doesn’t respond, she offers him a deal: she will tell him the name of the guy she likes if he also tells her about his crush. However, shortly after saying that, Kaguya goes into a deep sleep and never truly expresses her thoughts to him.
