Sayanna Varthakal Movie Review

A satirical political thriller concerning the flaws in the country’s education system. Even government projects are riddled with corruption.
Ravi Kumar (Gokul Suresh Gopi) and his friend (Vishnu Govind) establish a skilled education center under the central government’s Bharat Kaushal Yojana (Sharanya Sharma). As the venture grows in popularity, so will its earning potential. Ravi works with Dinesh (Dinesh Prabhakar), a political leader who is presently the Governor of Kolkata. Ravi expands his business and skills training center to Kolkata, where he becomes involved in a variety of illegal enterprises. In an unexpected turn of events, he chooses to become a whistleblower and expose the system’s corruption. He selects Dennis’ (Dhyan Sreenivasan’s) independent TV channel as the platform. The tale behind Sayanna Varthakal is what happens after the interview airs.

The director took a risk by tackling the issue of corruption in the country’s school system. The narrative delves into the darker side of these placements, where human trafficking occurs, forcing or enticing call center personnel to do so. Shankar Sharma’s BGM enhances a variety of settings.

Even though the strong story goes flat due to a mediocre writing and a lack of a good star cast, it’s a commendable effort. The first half appeared to drag and there were lulls, but the second half cranks up the pace. The songs aren’t particularly memorable, but the photography rescues the day. Sarath Shaji catches Kolkata and Kochi well, particularly the aerial photos of Kolkata. Gokul Suresh Gopi resembles his father, and we are reminded of Suresh Gopi’s early cinematic mannerisms. Dhyan Sreenivasan’s performance as a photographer/reporter is commendable. As the leading lady, Sharanya Sharma is convincing. Aju Varghese plays the comic relief. Cameo appearances by Vijaya Raghavan and Makarand Deshpande are spot on.
