As we can see, the conclusion of ‘When Calls the Heart’ season 9 episode 10 poses a lot of important questions. So, shall we talk some more and try to discover solutions now? SPOILERS AHEAD.

When Calls the Heart Season 9 Episode 10 Recap

‘Never Say Never’ begins with Lucas being detained owing to the evidence Wyman planted in his workplace. Elizabeth prays for his freedom but is concerned that the people of the town will judge him negatively. Meanwhile, Rosemary becomes terribly ill, and Faith suspects stomach flu. As Lee tries to care for his wife, she refuses to relax at home and accompany him to the newspaper office. Meanwhile, Mike unexpectedly approaches Bill and declares that he is resolved to leave as mayor because his obligations limit his helpful nature. He also explains that he needs to clear his thoughts and leaves Hope Valley for a few weeks.

Fiona greets Jerome Smith and Arthur Gilchrist when they arrive for the oil deal, but the latter’s over-friendly demeanor makes her uneasy. Seeing this, Nathan tells her to take a position for herself and politely decline unwelcome attention. Elizabeth, on the other hand, pays a visit to Lucas in jail and presents him the pocket watch she received as a gift. While returning to the station, Nathan runs into Faith, who tries to convince him of Lucas’ innocence, but he insists on doing his duty. Later, Lee goes to the cafĂ© and apologizes to Joseph for not informing him about the loan, and they bury the hatchet.

Rosemary seeks a second opinion from Faith after experiencing more unusual symptoms. They discover that she is very certainly pregnant, to to her surprise, but she decides not to inform Lee until it is verified. After calling Carson, Faith warns Bill to take care of his declining health. Due to Rosemary’s illness, the Coulters’ appointment with Arthur is postponed, and he probes Joseph about the mining accident after hearing about it through Jerome. Lucas is ultimately granted a brief release from jail and attends the oil company’s investor meetings. After that, he spends some time with Jack and Elizabeth, and just as he is ready to give her the birthday present he had prepared, devastating news interrupts their celebration.

When Calls the Heart Season 9 Episode 10 Ending: Why Does Florence Slap Henry?

Just before the investor conference for the oil deal is about to begin, Henry unexpectedly returns, and Lucas and Fiona are relieved. He tells Lucas that he was looking for Colin McCrery, a mining expert who warned him not to restart the mines. According to Colin, the mine cannot be reopened due to a considerable risk of collapse and will never be safe to work in again. When the meeting resumes the next day, Henry warns Jerome and Arthur not to reopen the mines since they are a symbol of hopelessness for the townspeople.

However, Arthur reminds everyone of the binding pact and insists on examining the exact causes of the disaster. Jerome then approaches Henry and requests a civilized conversation, during which he suggests that they should collaborate to improve the working conditions in the mines. He believes that after so many years, they may still have some scope for excavation and that they should take the risk of finding out. Henry reluctantly accepts but presumably has something up his sleeve, since he has been passionately opposed to the reopening of the mines.

The next day, as the news of the mines spreads through the papers, Florence and Molly are heartbroken because it reminds them of their husbands’ untimely deaths in the mining accident. Not only that, but it took them several years to recover from the disaster’s aftermath, the majority of which was caused by Henry. As a result, they are furious with him for reopening old wounds with his decision and believe he has reverted to his deceptive ways. When he attempts to communicate with them, an enraged Florence smacks him and berates him. Henry is discouraged by their attitude and is concerned about his next steps.

Do Elizabeth and Rosemary reconcile?

Rosemary decides to write a story for the Valley Voice on the oil company’s plans to reopen the mines. But Lee is doubtful because Elizabeth informed them about it in confidentially, which may have broken her trust. Rosemary agrees to go meet with her on his suggestion, but they wind up arguing since Elizabeth believes that the article would make everyone villainize Lucas for being a part of the oil company negotiations, and so partially culpable for reopening the mines. Furthermore, she believes that when the truth is out, the people of the town will panic.

While Rosemary appreciates Elizabeth’s point of view, she is unable to back down because it is her journalistic job to inform the people about their issues. The following morning, she publishes the story but makes certain that Lucas is not adversely characterized. Her friend is moved to witness this and pays her a visit to make amends for their prior spat. They pledge to be cautious with the personal information they give and apologize. Not only that, but Rosemary discusses her impending pregnancy with Elizabeth and urges her to keep it a secret. Though their disagreement is settled, their anxieties about the news causing hardship in Hope Valley are realized.

Does Nathan accept the plea bargain?

When Lucas is in jail, Bill receives a phone call from the man who caused Nathan and Newton’s accident. He admits that he was recruited by Wyman to place false evidence at Lucas’ office and was about to leave town when he inadvertently hit Nathan and Newton with his automobile. The man offers a plea bargain to testify against Wyman in court in exchange for the hit-and-run accusations against him being dropped.

While this confirms Lucas’ innocence, it offends Nathan because it ensures his perpetrator walks free. He refuses to accept the plea agreement because he cannot let go of the anguish created by the accident. However, this pits Nathan against his pals Lucas and Elizabeth, who rely on him accepting the plea offer. He tries to persuade Lucas to see things his way, but the latter believes he is being selfish.

Nathan finally chooses to take the plea offer after considerable deliberation, believing that his friendship with Elizabeth and Lucas is far more essential than his own problems. She expresses gratitude for his noble act by thanking him for protecting Lucas and putting an end to the continuous conflict between the three of them.
