The Boys Season 3 Episode 3 Ending Explained

Stan Edgar informs Starlight in Episode 2 of Season 3 of ‘The Boys’ that having a superpower is not genuine power. We witness the practical side of this remark in the third episode. The power dynamic in the show has always been delicate, with politics taking precedence over the employment of genuine superpowers. With the events of this episode, the upheaval within the Seven grows even more chaotic. By the conclusion, we are left wondering how much worse things can go. Here, we attempt to decipher what it all means for our favorite characters.

Recap of The Boys Season 3 Episode “Barbary Coast”

Following Homelander’s speech in the previous episode, it appeared that Vought would have to go into full crisis mode. However, a fortunate turn of events results in an increase in his popularity. People seem to like him just for being himself. This boosts Homelander’s self-esteem and ego, and he thinks he can restore his authority. He finds methods to torment both Starlight and The Deep, and he never misses an occasion to prove that he is more powerful than them.

Hughie and MM rejoin the team, and the Boys pay a visit to Mallory as a group. Butcher questions her about Nicaragua, and she confirms that Gunpowder’s claims are real. She was on a CIA mission to Nicaragua in 1984. Payback was dispatched to help her fight the enemy, the Russians. The Supes, on the other hand, turned out to be a bunch of untrained idiots, which resulted in the death of Soldier Boy, whose body was hauled away by the Russians.

Butcher battles with the affects of V-24, attempting to maintain control of his brief powers. Ryan notices that he is ill, but instead of confronting him, Butcher pushes him away. This irritates Ryan, and he tells Butcher that he despises him. Meanwhile, Frenchie reconnects with Cherie, who is in distress. She invites him to join her in fleeing the nation, but he declines. On his way back, he is confronted by Cherie’s bosses and has a brief encounter with Nina.

Ending of The Boys Season 3 Episode 3

Homelander began the third season in a precarious situation. He was losing followers as well as his position in The Seven. It appeared that he would gradually lose his powers, maybe making way for another villain. However, with the third episode, ‘The Boys’ re-establishes his supremacy. It demonstrates why Homelander is the ultimate villain.

With his numbers skyrocketing, he thinks Stan Edgar will have no problem with his doing things his way. This means that Starlight no longer has the authority she expected to have as co-captain. He doesn’t want her to have any concerns, so he finds ways to thoroughly undercut her authority. First and foremost, he reintroduces The Deep in The Seven. He is very aware of how much Starlight irritates him, which offers him an advantage. He targets her emotional and mental state while the constant memory of the assault is in front of her eyes.

To make matters worse, he adds another twist to the story. He declares his and Starlight’s love. This is obviously to improve his image, as Ashley had already informed him that his and Starlight’s combination received a rating that had never been attained before. Furthermore, being with Starlight will undoubtedly benefit him by isolating him from Stormfront and the Nazis. Because Starlight has no control over the circumstances, this is merely another method for him to humiliate her.

Annie wanted to leave the moment she noticed Homelander was becoming worse by the minute. Hughie, on the other hand, told her to persevere, which was not very encouraging. This harmed her self-esteem. However, she is nothing if not a fighter. Even though she is in excruciating pain, she smiles in front of everyone at the start of the episode. She uses the same technique to stay afloat. However, things are about to get considerably worse for her. Perhaps the only solace is that Supersonic is now a member of The Seven, and she will have someone to turn to. In the Vought tower, she will not be alone. His encouragement will boost her morale, but it will also result in a love triangle, which means Hughie will need to pay more attention to his love life.

The good news for Hughie is that Butcher has devised a strategy that may speed up the process of locating the weapon. Mallory informed them that the last people who saw Soldier Boy were the Russians who attacked and (supposedly) killed him. She also informs them that she has no further leads. Fortunately, Frenchie’s rendezvous with Cherie reconnects him with his old criminal compatriots, who turn out to be Russians. While Frenchie views this as a source of contention, Butcher sees it as an opportunity to learn more about what happened to Soldier Boy.
