Recap of Severance Episode 9

‘The We We Are,’ Episode 9 of ‘Severance,’ begins with the MDR team members, Mark, Helly, and Irving’s Innies, waking up outside Lumon Industries after Dylan activates the overtime contingency. While Irving is at home alone, Mark finds himself next to Mrs. Selvig at Ricken’s book reading. Helly attends the Lumon gala, and her true name is revealed to be Helena Eagan. Mark finds he is connected to his sister, Devon, and attempts to communicate with her.

Meanwhile, Irving discovers an old trunk in his closet containing his father’s navy outfit. He also discovers Burt’s address and a map with directions to his residence. Mark tries to tell Devon the truth about Lumon at the book reading, but she is focused with caring for her kid. The book reading begins soon after, and Mark is obliged to postpone his talk with Devon. Helly discovers at the Lumon gala that her Outie belongs to the Eagan family. Her experience on the severed floor was transformed into a DVD to promote the severance process and its benefits.

During a brief pause in the book reading, Mark addresses Mrs. Selvig as Ms. Cobel, informing her that the Overtime Contingency has been activated. Ms. Cobel hurries to the Lumon headquarters to prevent the Innies from divulging Lumon’s secrets. Mark speaks with Devon, and Ms. Cobel speaks with Devon. She attempts to call Mr. Milchick but is unable to do so. Mark, on the other hand, learns about his life outside of Lumon, and Devon discloses that Mark was distraught following the death of his wife, Gemma. As a result, he underwent Severance and began working for Lumon Industries. In the end, Mark, Helly, and Irving each try to escape their unhappiness at the nefarious corporation, while Ms. Cobel devises a desperate scheme to stop them.

Severance Finale: What Does Mark Discover About His Wife?

In the ninth episode, Mark’s Innie awakens outside Lumon and attempts to explain his position to his sister. Mark finally finds a quiet moment with Devon after overcoming various barriers. Instead of talking about Lumon, Mark learns about his Outie’s life and his decision to undergo Severance. Later, Mark explains that something fishy is going on at Lumon and requests Devon’s assistance in uncovering the plot. Devon’s talk with her siblings is cut short when she finds Mrs. Selvig is Mark’s supervisor. Devon is terrified since she has given Mrs. Selvig the baby.

While looking for the kid, Mark comes across a photo from his wedding with Gemma. Mark understands Gemma is Ms. Casey and that she is still alive. Meanwhile, Mr. Milchick learns of the Innies’ conduct and rushes to the security room to confront Dylan. Mr. Milchick tackles Dylan to the ground, thus shutting down the Overtime Contingency, as Mark rushes to tell Devon the truth. The episode concludes without revealing what happened after Overtime Contingency was shut down. As a result, it appears like Mark squandered his opportunity to tell his Outie the truth about his wife. However, when Mr. Milchick activates the Overtime Contingency in the sixth episode to talk with Dylan’s Innie, Dylan’s Innie retains knowledge about his son. As a result, Mark’s Outie may retain the recently discovered Gemma truth.

What does Irving discover about Burt?

Irving meets Burt of the Optics & Design department during the first season of ‘Severance.’ They eventually fall in love, but are separated after Burt retires. Innie, Irving’s character, resolves to reunite with Burt and uses his time in the outside world to find him. Irving locates Burt’s address and travels to his residence. When he gets at Burt’s house, he finds Burt happily married to another man.

Despite the terrible occasion, Irving believes Burt is the only one he can confide in regarding Lumon. As a result, he goes on to knock on Burt’s door. However, before Irving and Burt can reunite, the Overtime Contingency is shut down, leaving the aftermath uncertain. Irving will almost certainly reunite with Burt, although in his Outie guise. As a result, it remains to be known how the two will interact with one other in the absence of knowledge of their interactions within Lumon.

What does Helly discover about Lumon?

Helly’s real name is Helena Eagan, and she is a member of the Eagan family, the founders and owners of Lumon Industries, according to one of the finale’s most interesting revelations. Until now, viewers have only had a glimpse inside Mark, Irving, and Dylan’s lives outside of the nefarious organization. The Lumon gala, on the other hand, is when spectators first get a glimpse of Helly’s outside life. Helly becomes even more motivated to expose Lumon after knowing the truth about her Outie. Despite the fact that she has no one she can trust and that her family is the perpetrators, Helly resolves to speak out against Lumon at the gala.

However, Ms. Cobel appears on the scene just as Helly is about to take the stage and warns her that her actions would have serious consequences for Helly and her companions. Nonetheless, Helly takes the stage and announces how unhappy the Innies are, and Lumon lies about the severance procedure. Her remarks is cut short, however, because the Overtime Contingency is turned off. As a result, Ms. Cobel eventually succeeds in halting Helly. Although Helly’s quick remark may make a sensation among gala attendees, it can easily be misconstrued as a publicity stunt. As a result, it appears that Helly and the MDR team’s efforts have been in vain. In the end, Mark, Helly, Irving, and Dylan’s futures are uncertain, as Lumon is likely to take harsh measures against its employees.
