Recap of Episodes 5 and 6 of Outer Range
Wayne Tillerson returns home in Episode 5 and suffers a stroke that renders him disabled. In the meantime, Royal travels to Wyoming’s Rare Earth Department to discover more about the stone in the necklace he got from Autumn. Cecilia discovers Autumn prowling around her house after learning of Wayne’s stroke. Autumn is looking for her necklace, but Cecilia requests that she go. Dr. Nila Bantu meets with Royal to learn more about the stone. However, after seeing a photo of Nila with the enigmatic group BY9, he refuses to leave the stone in her custody for research. Royal later discovers that BY9 is a mining corporation.
Cecilia meets Patricia, but is angered by her son’s claimed role in Trevor’s death. When she gets home, she discovers a dead baby bear in her yard. Luke and Patricia Tillerson strive to figure out how to keep their firm functioning after Wayne’s stroke. Because Wayne did not provide a power of attorney, their options are limited until Wayne’s will is carried out. Finally, Royal cracks the stone and gains access to the soil within, allowing him to have a glimpse of the future. Royal views himself as dead and surrounded by Cecilia and Autumn in the vision.
The sixth episode, titled ‘The Family,’ begins with Royal and Autumn meeting by the void. He gives her a lift home but continues driving past her camp. Autumn’s tent is burned down, and Royal advises her to stay away from his family. The two quarrel about the stone, but Royal requests that Autumn leave his property. Autumn later sees a bear in the woods who begs her to demonstrate the nothingness to an unknown person. Luke and Patrica discover Wayne’s will on the Tillerson Ranch. Wayne intends to leave everything to Billy, according to the lawyer.
Autumn, meanwhile, leads Billy to the black hole. Cecilia finds it difficult to live with Royal’s secrecy and attempts to isolate herself. Autumn phones her sponsor and demands money after realizing her camp has been torched. She uses a knife to carve the Abbott Ranch logo on her chest. Later, she discusses Royal’s conduct with Perry. Finally, the Abbott family has a dispute at the dinner table, which scares Amy and causes her to flee.
Outer Range Episodes 5 and 6: Are Autumn and Billy Collaborating?
Autumn and Billy appear to be working together as the episode comes to a close, revealing an unexpected surprise. Autumn leads Billy to the black abyss earlier in the episode, following her meeting with the bear. While they both stare into the black nothingness, she recounts him the story of an astrologer. While it appears like a bigger power is at work in bringing the two together, the ending shows that Autumn and Billy have been working together all along.
To begin with, Billy could easily be Autumn’s benefactor. Autumn’s hotel room is verified when Billy appears shortly after she contacts her benefactor. Autumn indicates during this chat that things are moving quickly in Wyoming, and all of the puzzle pieces are coming together. Autumn believes that everything that happens in town follows a pattern.
Furthermore, she argues that the pattern will help her achieve her objectives. Billy seems thrilled when he hears this, implying that they had planned to get to this point a long time ago. While the episode does not explain Autumn and Billy’s exact relationship, it is clear that they know far more than anyone around them. Their ultimate purpose, though, remains a secret for the time being.
