Zeke’s actions have probably contributed to some of the show’s most famous scenes since his first debut in his Beast Titan form in ‘Attack on Titan’ season 2 episode 1. While other characters have clearly changed their views on the Eldians’ quest for survival, Zeke is arguably the sole exception because he had everything planned out from the start. He has not only remained committed to his objectives, but he is willing to risk his life to find a solution to the intricate Eldian dispute.

So it’s not surprise that his brutal acts in a violent environment are now catching up with him, and his life has been hanging by a thread in recent episodes. Does General Magath’s brutal blow to his neck in Season 4 Episode 18 kill him, despite the fact that he survives the terrible injuries he got after Levi apprehended him? So, here’s our take on it. WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!

Is Zeke killed in Attack on Titan?

No, Zeke does not die in the season 4 episode 18 named ‘Sneak Attack’ of ‘Attack on Titan.’ General Magath and Pieck do an excellent job of convincing the Eldians that the Cart Titan has been defeated, giving them a few precious seconds to launch a surprise attack. While Zeke’s attention is drawn to Eren’s Founding Titan, who is approaching him, Magath takes advantage of the opportunity to strike a powerful blow with the Anti-Titan Mobile Artillery.

He misses his target due to the steep angle, but he manages to hit Zeke near his nape, causing the Beast Titan to fall from the wall. Magath realizes it is not a fatal injury when Pieck asks if Zeke is dead and the General does not respond in the affirmative. Although Titan Shifters can be destroyed by a deadly blow to the back of the neck of the Titans they control, it is vital that they are hit in the precise place.

However, it would be unwise to base the ultimate decision only on Magath’s appraisal of the Beast Titan’s injuries. Other clear evidence render Zeke’s death worthless for the time being. The rest of the world is baying at Paradis Island, terrified of the Subjects of Ymir. They believe that if they are allowed to do as they choose, the Eldians will represent an existential threat to others due of their Titanic strength.

The prejudice against the residents of Paradis Island is pervasive, and the rest of the world regards them as devils. Marleyans have played a significant role in stoking this hatred, since they intend to use the Titans’ power for their own gain. However, Eren’s Founding Titan’s secret powers — which can control the millions of Colossal Titans buried under the walls of Paradis Island — act as a deterrent to the Marleyan menace. Without it, the Eldians would be no match for the nations beyond its borders, which are already considerably more technologically advanced.

But this is where Zeke becomes so important to the show’s premise. If Zeke dies right now, Eren will be unable to use all of the powers of the Founding Titan and the Beast Titan until it is inherited by a child of Ymir’s subjects. With the Rumbling no longer a threat, the Marleyans will have some much-needed time to recuperate, following which the defeat of Paradis Island will be a matter of time.

Aside from the reasons stated above, another tangible proof comes from Hajime Isayama’s manga series, which served as the basis for the anime. Zeke may have a dismal future ahead of him, and things are certain to become worse for him from here on out, but he will not die at the hands of General Magath. So, if you’re a Zeke fan, there’s no need to worry right now. However, as the show nears its finale, expect an unexpected change of events.
