First Kill Ending Explained Does Theo Turn Into a Vampire?
‘First Kill’ on Netflix chronicles Juliette and Calliope’s high school romance, which sounds innocent enough until it is discovered that the former is a vampire and the latter is a vampire hunter. Juliette comes from an ancient order of legacy vampires, whilst Calliope comes from a monster-hunting family supported by a guild. The two’s blossoming passion threatens to destabilize the fragile peace between the two ancient orders, and a few horrible deaths soon send the entire village into a frenzy.
‘First Kill,’ based on a story by author V.E. Schwab, combines a teenage romance with themes of ancient hostility. The turbulent season comes to a close on an exciting note, with the destiny of many key players still up in the air. Let’s take a closer look at the season 1 finale of ‘First Kill’ and see how things turn up. SPOILERS FOLLOW.
Recap of First Kill Season 1
Juliette begins the story by presenting her ancient “legacy” vampire family. She is still an uninitiated vampire, going through unsettling periods and staying calm by ingesting blood capsules. Juliette, despite her family’s insistence, cannot bring herself to kill another human and hence cannot feed like a regular vampire. Juliette is captivated when she first meets Calliope, the new girl at school. Her preoccupation with Calliope soon leads to a kiss between the two at a high school party. Calliope, on the other hand, comes from a line of monster hunters and is aware of Juliette’s true identity. During their kiss, the latter attempts to bite Calliope, to which the latter responds by stabbing Juliette with a stake.

Both families get apprehensive as word spreads of a growing romance between the vampire and the monster hunter. Calliope and Juliette strive to stay together, and they each earn their first kills in the process. However, things become chaotic when the vampire side begins killing people, resulting in the birth of the MAAMs, a local vigilante group. Even as their families try to keep their respective orders at bay in order to avoid an all-out war between vampires and hunters, the two heroes are uncontrollably drawn to each other.
Meanwhile, an internal schism in Juliette’s family exposes that her father, Sebastian, is a human who was turned into a vampire. This sparks a feud between Sebastian and his matriarchal mother-in-law, Davina, in which the former murders the latter. The family keeps the murder hidden, but they are now afraid that the vampire order will learn that their leader, Davina, has been killed. Davina’s prestigious position as Keeper of the Emerald Malkia is secretly transferred to her daughter (Juliette’s mother, Margot).
What Happens to Theo at the End of First Kill Season 1? How Does Theo Become a Vampire?
Calliope’s brother Theo, a guild hunter, struggles with hazy recollections of his biological mother being brutally murdered by a monster. In order to discover the perpetrator, he accepts to take assistance from Juliette’s cunning vampire sister, Elinor. Things don’t go as planned, and Theo gets stabbed in the ensuing brawl. His siblings Calliope and Apollo believe he is dead, but Theo lives, only to exhibit signs of becoming a vampire.
Theo’s father, Jack, attempts to kill him, but the young guy and his mother, Talia, escape. As the first season comes to an end, Juliette and Calliope’s relationship suffers a devastating blow when the latter realizes that the former may have played a role in converting Theo into a vampire. They part ways, understanding that any connection between them will be fraught with disaster.
The concluding events of season 1 are mainly reliant on Theo’s unforeseen fate and its consequences. Theo is unintentionally stabbed by his brother, Apollo, during his rendezvous with Elinor. Juliette bites Theo to save his life by turning him into a vampire when she discovers him bleeding and asking for aid. However, Theo’s family does not recognize what has happened until decades later, when he develops a taste for blood.
Calliope’s hunting family is in a terrible situation as a result of Theo’s vampire transformation. The vampire-killing family is obliged to live by their code, and as Jack prepares to murder his son, Juliette intervenes. Before allowing Theo to feed on her arm, she explains how Theo, as a new vampire, is thirsting for blood. Seeing Juliette assist Theo with his vampiric habit causes a schism between her and Calliope.
Despite Juliette’s efforts to calm the family down, Jack is intent about killing his son. Talia reluctantly agrees, but later assists Theo in escaping. Finally, Theo is missing but alive. His life, however, is in continual danger because he is now being pursued by his own family and guild. Because Juliette is the one who turns him into a vampire, we may see some sort of link between her and Theo emerge.
Juliette and Calliope Split?
The key relationship between Juliette and Calliope breaks down, at least for the time being, as the season comes to a close. Calliope blames Juliette for turning Theo into a vampire, despite the fact that the latter claims she only did it to preserve his life. Theo’s surprise conversion, however, is merely the most recent in a series of turbulent events that combine to keep Juliette and Calliope apart.
Their bond is obvious not just to their parents, but also to the old orders that govern them. As a result, Juliette and Calliope recognize that their relationship will most certainly break their families apart. Juliette and Calliope split up at the end of Season 1 after witnessing the devastation caused by their love. In the end, they both admit that their love for each other is so intense that it is destroying their way of life.
As a result, the show’s key pair, Juliette and Calliope, do not marry at the end of season 1. Despite this, both still have a great attraction to each other, and considering that they are forced apart by circumstances, a romance between the two is still very likely.
Is Elinor on her way to prison?
Elinor also meets an unexpected end at the end of season one, when she finds herself in the hands of the law. Being at the hands of a police detective is almost hilarious for a girl as arrogant and self-assured in her power as Elinor. Despite her father’s guarantees of a lawyer, Elinor’s situation does not appear to be promising.

The detectives discover Elinor’s collection of identity cards, which she preserves as keepsakes from her victims, thanks to her bitter brother, Oliver. This is as incriminating as any evidence, and Elinor will almost certainly be imprisoned.
Prison, on the other hand, could be a blessing in disguise for Elinor. The eldest vampire sister has always desired power, and having the whole criminal population of the prison at her disposal could be exactly what she requires. Elinor has control over her victims’ minds, allowing her to erase sections of their memories. Elinor, when combined with her more evident vampiric abilities, might very well seize control of her fellow captives and create an army to do her bidding.
