Blue Period Season 2: Renewed or Cancelled?

‘Blue Period,’ a funny and lovable coming-of-age animation on Netflix, was created by Reiko Yoshida and directed by Koji Masunari and Katsuya Asano based on the popular manga series authored by Tsubasa Yamaguchi. The plot centres around prodigy Yatora Yaguchi, who is well-liked and has a successful track record but frequently suffers from frustration and psychological instability. Yaguchi is inspired to try his hand at painting after seeing a work of art at his school’s art club one lovely day.

Later, he joins an art club and aims to attend Tokyo University of the Arts. Following its Netflix debut, the series received positive feedback from both consumers and critics for its dynamic sequences, excellent characterization, and LGBTQ-friendly environment. However, you may be curious about if a second season is in the works, and if so, please allow us to drop the beans.

Release Date for Blue Period Season 2

‘Blue Period’ started on Netflix on October 9, 2021, with the season finale following on December 25, 2021. The show began showing in Japan on Netflix on September 25, 2021, months before its premiere in the United States. The first season contains twelve episodes, each lasting approximately 24 minutes. Let us now turn our attention to the growth of the following season.

There has been no official statement about a sophomore season, and we do not know if one is planned. However, the series has gained a large number of global viewers, which may entice the producers to consider another season. Seven Arcs Studio created the animation, which was licensed by Netflix. As a result, Netflix has a vested interest in the show’s cancellation or renewal.

The series’ creative team comprises industry veterans — character creator Tomoyuki Shitaya of ‘Bakuman’ reputation, and writing department Reiko Yoshida of ‘K-ON!’ fame. Furthermore, because the first season does not cover the vast majority of the original material, a second season is clearly warranted. Although we cannot give an exact release date until the formal announcement, if filming begins by summer 2022, ‘Blue Period’ season 2 could air in late 2022 or later.

Plot of Blue Period Season 2

The first season follows Yatora Yaguchi as he discovers a new passion in school. He does exceptionally well in school. Yaguchi, on the other hand, is ripped apart by his inner turmoil and adolescent anguish. His visit to the high school’s art club is worthwhile. Yaguchi, inspired by a picture, seeks to make his own. At school, he meets Ryuji “Yuka” Ayukawa and sparks fly. Yaguchi joins the art group after being inspired by her. He is drawn deeper into the dreamlike artistic world, yet his frustration does not seem to fade. In the end, he chooses Tokyo University of the Arts as his favorite college.

The second season will most likely pick up where the first one left off. In the second run, Yatora Yaguchi will most likely have to forge new paths in life. He’ll be a little frustrated at first, but he’ll eventually settle into his own existence. The story will begin after he enrolls at the prestigious Tokyo University of the Arts, but he will most likely experience the same conflict that he has experienced at school. With a change in scenery, new characters are likely to appear on the screen. Furthermore, we have yet to see if Yaguchi and Yuka’s friendship will stand the test of time. Will Yaguchi be able to regain his footing in college and meet new people? What will become of his ambition to become a painter? Hopefully, the next season will provide us with all of the answers.
