Recap of Billions Season 6 Episode 9
Mike reflects on his loss in Episode 9. Chuck shows there, ostensibly to put an end to the rivalry. But both men are aware that it is not yet over. Mike orders his generals, Scooter (Daniel Breaker) and Wags (David Costabile), to prepare for vengeance and battle the next day. Dave (Sakina Jaffrey) and Chuck are meant to meet Stuart Legere at a high-end club in New York.
Dave is told to wait outside since he arrived sooner than Legere, who is a member of the club. She observes as a wealthy guy refuses to let a young mother with a stroller enter Vanderbilt Park. Dave begins to feel agitated. They plan to go after the park’s board of trustees after Chuck arrives. They think that this will be the first step in their attempt to open up the city.
“Dollar” Bill and Mafee pay a visit to Michael Prince Capital. Taylor is first overjoyed to see their buddies. They soon notice, however, that those two are spending an inordinate lot of time with Ben Kim and Tuk Lal. There can only be one reason for this. “Dollar” Bill and Mafee intend to poach some of Michael Prince Capital’s staff. They worked together under Axe, and that sense of brotherhood has stuck with them.
Taylor informs Philip about the situation. Philip initially refuses to stop Ben Kim and Tuk Lal from leaving, but Taylor eventually convinces him of the importance of these two employees. Taylor and Philip confront “Dollar” Bill and Mafee in the presence of Ben Kim and Tuk Lal. Taylor threatens the former two and persuades the last two to stay, which impresses Philip. Taylor and Philip are destined to collide because of who they are. However, for the time being, their collaboration is mutually beneficial.
Ending of Billions Season 6 Episode 9: Is Chuck Fired from His Position as New York Attorney General?
Mike decides to depose Chuck from his position of power because he stole the Olympics from him. Chuck is a divisive figure in New York politics as the state’s Attorney General. Throughout his career, he has sought his own conception of justice, always treading the edge between legality and criminality. The general population is probably aware of this. They also realise that he is their best hope against the affluent and powerful, especially with his new resolutions calling for the abolition of the billionaire class.
The issue is that when people go after job creators, ordinary people suffer as a result. And it’s possible that’s why Chuck is such a controversial character. Mike first approaches Governor Sweeney’s possible opponent in his quest to remove Chuck from his post as Attorney General. The latter understands the intended message and initiates a no-confidence motion against Chuck in the State Senate.
Mike later said that he intended to divert Chuck’s focus away from what he was doing, so he brought up the Vanderbilt Park issue in front of the other man and his staff. They bit the bait and went after the park’s trustees. It was too late when they recognised what was going on. Mike even persuades State Senator Clay Tharp, a diehard Chuck supporter, to change sides by pressuring Sweeney to pull money from the senator’s district.
Chuck delivers an emotional defence speech in front of the State Senate, vilifying Prince and proclaiming his own stance as the correct one. It persuades a few senators, but not enough, and Chuck is fired as Attorney General. Prince appears to believe that their struggle is over, but he should know better. He did not give up after losing the Olympics. So there’s no reason to suppose Chuck will either. The battle has undoubtedly been won by Prince, but the fight is far from done.
