Sehari Movie Review
The story of a befuddled millennial attempting to figure out what love is in his early twenties is such a tired narrative. Sehari follows the same structure, with director Gnana Sagar Dwaraka playing it safe by not tinkering with this time-honored concept.
Varun (Harish Kanumilli), a 24-year-old man-child, is dumped by his girlfriend after graduation. He goes through all of the complexities of such a break-up, and the filmmaker tries to make it entertaining. The humorous sequences are uninteresting, but if that’s your kind of thing, this is ideal. Varun’s college scenes are shown in flashback, and no one is surprised that he is poisonous and can’t figure out what it means to be in love. He intends to marry in order to teach his ex a lesson. When his parents select a match for him, he falls in love with the bride’s sister Amulya (Simran Choudhary). She is a fashion designer who does not believe in marriage. Varun is drawn to her because she has an unusual past.
But, because his pals aren’t on board with the concept, he pulls back from telling Amulya how he feels for her and ends up making a shambles. Varun becomes engaged to the woman his parents had picked for him instead, which causes more problems. There’s even a rap fight, which is entertaining and serves as a welcome distraction in the midst of a few mediocre sequences. Both Abhinav Gomatham and Pranav Chaganty should be commended for their efforts. The film’s flaw is how a seemingly mature, independent, and sure-footed Amulya begins to fall for Varun, whom she earlier dismissed as ‘immature.’ Neither the character nor the creators appear to have an answer. The second half of the picture is also hampered by sloppy writing, which is a letdown.
Sehari, on the other hand, shines when it comes to music. Prashanth R Vihari’s songs will undoubtedly make their way onto many playlists and stay there for a long time. Harsh, as a first hero, could’ve gone with a stronger narrative because he’s remarkable, but he chose to play it safe. Simran is beautiful and emotes effectively. Abhinav attempts to employ all of his Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi allusions, but it no longer feels fresh. The other actors also do admirably.
Sehari isn’t a bad rom-com for a debut, but it’s also not particularly inventive or fresh. If you’re tired of the same old storylines that the film business keeps producing, this one’s for you.
