‘Looop Lapeta,’ a fast-paced Hindi language thriller from Netflix, is an Indian version of the 1998 German thriller ‘Run Lola Run.’ The plot revolves around Savi (Taapsee Pannu), who is trying to safeguard her slightly foolish boyfriend, Satya (Tahir Raj Bhasin), from the mob. The film’s format is fascinating, as it repeatedly sends Savi back to the beginning of the story when she fails to save Satya.

Along the journey, the desperate young woman’s mission affects the lives of a slew of colorful personalities, irreparably altering everyone of them. By the end, Savi is tantalizingly close to obtaining everything she desires and more. But will she be able to make it? A lot happens in the final moments of this roller coaster ride, so let’s take a closer look at ‘Loop Lapeta’s’ finish. WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD.

Synopsis of the Looop Lapeta Plot

The story begins with Savi, a former athletic runner who has been depressed since an injury ruined her athletic career. When Satya, a small-time hustler, saves her from committing suicide, the two fall deeply in love. Savi becomes addicted to drugs and spends days in bed with her boyfriend in order to forget her broken dreams. Meanwhile, Satya is revealed to be a chronic thief, always looking for a quick way to make it big. Savi (and even her father) repeatedly warn Satya that someday he will get into big problems, and it appears that that day will occur on our heroine’s birthday.

On that fateful day, Savi discovers she’s pregnant before receiving a phone call from Satya, who informs her that he’s in serious difficulty. As it turns out, the stupid boyfriend has gone and stolen a substantial sum of money from a nasty local gang leader. Satya, terrified, then tries to find the money before choosing to rob a jewelry store to recoup the money and save his skin. Meanwhile, Savi embarks on a strange dash across town in an attempt to reach Satya before he does anything stupid.

Savi’s path crosses with a bereaved taxi driver named Jacob and a tenacious police officer who pursues her mercilessly. The worried girlfriend is also having a disagreement with her father. She eventually arrives at the jewelry store, where Satya’s bungled robbery is in progress. Two other young males, it turns out, have planned to rob the store at the same time. Satya is then fatally murdered by the business owner, and Savi sobs uncontrollably.

We are then returned to a brief sequence of Savi and Satya sleeping in bed at home before the loop is reset and Savi finds herself back at the start of the day. However, she recalls the events that lie ahead of her, and she receives a call from a panicked Satya. The sequence of events repeats itself, although somewhat differently. But, in the end, Satya is shot again, this time by Jacob.

Is Satya Dead or Alive at the End of Looop Lapeta?

The loop is reset once again. This time, however, Savi knows that she must correct her mistakes if she is to succeed and break free from the endless loops. She resumes her frantic journey across town, but this time she takes a detour to assist Jacob in reuniting with his sweetheart. Savi receives a couple envelopes of money in exchange, which she uses to spend at a casino. Against all odds, she triumphs. Meanwhile, Satya is oblivious of the time loops and is always astounded by his girlfriend’s inexplicable knowledge of impending events.

Unaware that Savi has won, he robs the store but is apprehended by the other thieves who are also attempting to rob it. Satya, on the other hand, walks away with the money this time. As the film comes to a close, Satya and Savi meet, both holding a bag of money, one of which they return to the ganglord. The man who first stole Satya’s bag money walks past the couple as they hug. As the film comes to an end, Satya notices the man with the bag and chases him down, taking Savi along with him.

As a result, the film concludes with our heroine running again, this time in search of money. The one important difference this time is that her partner is with her. The entire story revolves around Savi’s attempts (many times) to save Satya on her own. Satya is shot near the end of the first two loops, first by Mamlesh, the jewelry store owner, and then by Jacob, the grieving cab driver. The third time, as Satya flees the jewelry store with the stolen money, Mamlesh fires at the desperate thief but misses, damaging a police car glass in the process. Thus, after dying in the first two loops, Satya survives the final circle and is thus alive at the end of the film.

The story format allows Savi to effectively go through the trauma three times, allowing her to gain stronger at beating the overwhelming odds with each subsequent attempt. The first loop results in her not receiving the money or saving Satya’s life. After doing a line of cocaine the second time, Savi begins on a frenzied road that culminates with Satya successfully stealing the money but being shot by Jacob. Savi receives the money and saves her boyfriend the third time around, effectively finishing her trip. Ironically, the film ends with her starting on another chase, this time with Satya (now her fiance) by her side.

How does Savi obtain the funds?

The subject of Savi’s story appears to be her triumph over astronomical odds, which is most evident in the film’s climax. She places a single “all-in” bet on the roulette table with the money Jacob and Julia offer her for reconciling them. Because this is the third loop, Savi is aware that she has been provided with all she requires to succeed. All she has to do is look for it.

As a result, the only number that comes to mind is 8, which represents the hour in the morning at which the cycle resets every time. Savi’s story (repeatedly) begins with her in the restroom at 8 a.m., therefore she chooses the number. The strange aspect of the film makes it extremely simple to accept Savi winning big — which she does — and walking out of the casino with large sums of money.

Is Satya and Savi destined to be together? What is their financial situation?

Yes, Satya and Savi end up together and marry at the end of the film after the latter proposes to the pleasantly surprised former. Notably, in the third loop, when Satya lives and the two get engaged, even Savi’s father agrees to give her risky “featherweight boyfriend” a chance.

However, as the film’s conclusion demonstrates, getting married may not be as easy as it sounds, and soon after being engaged, Savi finds herself being tugged by Satya as they begin on another frenetic chase, this time after the man who stole Satya’s bag of money. In fact, in the second loop, when warning Julia not to marry Jacob, Savi foreshadows how falling in love with the wrong guy leads to repeating one’s mistakes and becoming trapped in a loop.

Ironically, this could end up happening to our heroine, as the ganglord emphasizes when Satya is scheduled to return for another task the next day. Savi and Satya’s recent engagement, on the other hand, has a lot going for it. Aside from the impending baby, they also conclude the third loop with a tidy sum of money. Despite the fact that Satya must return the 5 million rupees (about $66,000) he stole from the jewelry shop to the gang lord, the couple is allowed to keep the money that Savi wins. Savi’s bag is anticipated to contain roughly 5 million rupees, as she intended to repay Satya’s debt with the money she earned at the casino.

The question is whether they will be able to collect the bag from the man they are chasing in the film’s last scene. If they do, they would have added another 5 million rupees to their coffers, bringing it to a nice round 10 million rupees (minus the relatively small amounts the thief spent on his swanky new suit.) Of course, even if they are unable to apprehend the man who stole the bag, Satya and Savi will end up with approximately 5 million rupees, which isn’t too shabby.
