While Izumi is preoccupied with his own work in class, Inuzuka informs him that he has two movie coupons that would expire the following Sunday. He won’t be able to make it to the cinema because he has a part-time work that day, so he offers the coupon to Izumi so that he can take someone with him. Shikimori, who is listening in, pretends to be absolutely naive, but when her boyfriend asks if she wants to accompany him, the main protagonist can’t contain her excitement and decides to accompany him.

Later at home, Izumi is thinking about how lovely his movie date with Shikimori will be when he suddenly realizes that their prior dates have always ended in disaster. As he recalls all of his misfortunes, Izumi realizes that he must prepare accordingly. He puts everything he needs in a suitcase, expecting it will come in helpful in an emergency. Shikimori, on the other hand, is having trouble deciding on a dress.

Izumi leaves his house early the next day, assuming that he will encounter some difficulty on the road. His hunch is correct, but because he has plenty of time, Izumi is able to deal with adversity and help others without being late. Shikimori’s gorgeous appearance takes his breath away when he sees her. The pair then walks together to the theater, where they proceed to select the film they will watch. Izumi asks Shikimori to tell her what she enjoys, and the two end up watching a horror movie.

Izumi believes he will be able to tolerate the picture because he has seen similar films in the past. He also imagines providing consolation to his lover in the event that she becomes terrified. However, as the film begins, the tables are turned, as Izumi struggles to keep his eyes open, and Shikimori is forced to provide him with much-needed emotional support. The pair intends to go to a bakery after the movie, but when Izumi finds he has misplaced his wallet, they must rethink their plans.

Fortunately, they happen to run into Izumi’s parents on the way and are welcomed to supper. When they get at his house, his parents prepare the supper, and everyone sits down to eat. Shikimori enjoys the food and has no reservations about speaking with her boyfriend’s family. Izumi falls asleep after they finish eating, as his girlfriend assists his mother, Motoko, with the dishes. Shikimori discovers that Motoko is delighted that she is dating her son and want for her to be there for him at all times. When Izumi awakens, Shikimori is playing video games with his father.

Motoko has always been an overprotective mother who has witnessed his son’s suffering. She had to send Izumi outside the home wearing a yellow helmet when he was a young boy because she was afraid he would be gravely injured. Even with all of his safeguards, he was continuously getting into problems. As a result, Motoko has endured the agony of seeing her kid suffer for several years.

But things have altered drastically since Shikimori entered Izumi’s life. While his misery has followed him around, she has always stood by him, often saving him from potentially dangerous situations. Even as they are eating together, a fork is ready to stab Izumi’s face, but Shikimori stops it just in time.

Despite her undying love for her kid, Motoko knows she could never defend Izumi the way her girlfriend has been doing for quite some time. As a result, she wants Shikimori to be there for him at all times since she believes he will be safe with him. Motoko’s faith in Shikimori tells volumes about Izumi’s girlfriend’s dedication and strong resolve to face all the adversity that life throws at him. So it’s easy to see why Mokoto feels the way she does.
