9 Most Fucked-Up Movies On Netflix Right Now (2022)

9 Most Fucked-Up Movies On Netflix Right Now (2022) – So, what is the purpose of movies? Isn’t it amusing? A story that moves you to tears and transports you to places you’ve never visited before? When it comes to movies, or any kind of art for that matter, such definition is just too restrictive. We, as humans, are capable of experiencing a wide range of emotions. We can be pleased, sad, fearful, angry, or any combination of these emotions. And, in general, we want a work of art to make us feel something. But do they always have to be positive emotions that make us feel better about ourselves, our lives, and the world in general? Most emphatically not.

When it comes to art, we want to experience all of the emotions that we may or may not have experienced in real life. We want to be scared, to die, to feel sad, afraid, and ashamed, since art is always a channel through which we can healthily experience our complete range of emotions. Everyone appreciates a good scare in a movie now and then. A horror film that actually scares us is one that has served its goal. Certain films frighten you out because of their subject matter, tone, or the way they were shot. These films mess with our sense of security and, as a result, have an unusual affect on our hearts and brains. Keeping all of this in mind, we were able to construct a list of such films for you. Here’s a list of the most messed-up Netflix movies that are currently accessible to stream.

 Gerald’s Game (2017)

This is one of Netflix’s creepiest films, and it really pushes the envelope in a variety of ways. Jessie and Gerald are a married couple who decide to spend some time at their country home. The house is large, and there is no one within a few miles. Gerald has a rape dream that he wants to fulfill, and despite his initial reluctance, Jesse accepts to be shackled to the bedposts. But, with Jesse still chained, the pair has a quarrel, and while Gerald is excited, he suffers a heart attack and dies. With Jessie still tied to the bedpost, she has no method of releasing herself, and the key is out her reach.

After a while, a dog enters the room, and despite Jessie’s efforts, the dog bites off a chunk of Gerald’s hand. Jesse gradually falls asleep, and we gradually realize the trauma she has gone through and how it is influencing whatever is occurring to her right now. The film is powerful, disturbing, and creepy, and in a flashback scene, we get a glimpse into Jessie’s horrible history. We then see all of her inner demons blossom into what happens later in the film. Critics lauded ‘Gerard’s Game’ for its daring approach and Carla Gugino’s striking performance as Jessie.

 The Bar (2017)

This Spanish thriller does an excellent job of demonstrating how humans are essentially carnal animals that only require the right circumstances to reveal their most basic, animalistic nature. It tells the narrative of a group of people who become trapped inside a tavern. However, they are unable to leave since anyone who ventures outside the building is shot down by a sniper.

The group gradually realizes that one of them is to blame for the mess they’ve created. They also discover that they have been unwittingly subjected to a government operation. This causes each of the confined men and women to begin blaming and fighting amongst themselves. The question is, will anyone make it to the end? Surprisingly, the premise of a group of people confined together inside a chamber, unable to escape, is a well-known notion that can be traced back to George Orwell’s ‘1984.’ Viewers interested in surreal films can view Luis Bunuel’s ‘The Exterminating Angel’ (1962), which has a similar plot but in an entirely different setting.

 Fractured (2019)

‘Fractured,’ a psychological thriller film written by Alan B. McElroy, stars Sam Worthington, Lily Rabe, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Adjoa Andoh. Ray is driving his family home after a Thanksgiving dinner with his in-laws in Brad Anderson’s film. However, when they stop at a gas station, his daughter’s arm is fractured, and the family is rushed to the hospital. When Ray arrives, he notices something unusual about the location, and his worst fears are fulfilled when his daughter and wife are missing. Now it’s up to him to solve the mystery of their disappearance before it’s too late.

 Clinical (2017)

‘Clinical,’ directed by Alistair Legrand, is a horror film written by Luke Harvis and Alistair Legrand. The film stars Vinessa Shaw and Kevin Rahm as Dr. Jane Mathis, an experienced psychiatrist who suffers from PTSD as a result of a surprise attack by one of her patients, who ends up trying suicide in her office. Jane encounters a patient with a tragic past as she confronts the anguish of the attack. Is it the proper decision for Jane to continue seeing new patients while her PTSD worsens?

 Raw (2016)

This film is as messed up as it gets! The film ‘Raw’ chronicles the narrative of two sisters attending veterinary school. Even their parents had gone there to study, meet, and fall in love. The protagonist is Justine, a younger sister who is encouraged to consume a raw rabbit kidney as part of a phasing rite by seniors. Her sister even urges her to do so. Justine, on the other hand, is a vegetarian and refuses. This causes Alexia, her sister, to force some flesh into her mouth.

Justine has a peculiar hunger for meat the next morning, something she had never experienced before. She will now go to any length to obtain some raw flesh. When the sisters are together one day, Alexia accidentally slices off her finger, only to find her sister relishing the taste of it. Justine’s taste switches to only human flesh after this. When the sisters arrive at the scene of an accident with two victims in a car, Justine does not hesitate to bite one of the dead occupants. Her appetites quickly cause difficulties for the others, but Justine is willing to go to any length for blood right now. This film contains some truly horrifying scenes that will undoubtedly frighten you out. Justine, for example, pukes out a lot of hair in one moment.

 The Ritual (2017)

‘The Ritual’ is one of the scariest and strangest films available on Netflix right now. It’s about a bunch of pals who go on a hiking excursion in Sweden. Their path leads them through a dense forest, which they enter, only to discover that something is amiss when they uncover particular symbols written on tree trunks. As darkness descends on the group, the odd and horrifying creatures of the forest begin to crawl upon them. They have no one to call for help. They eventually come into a monster that is chasing them and intends to kill them. The pals have no way out of this situation.

The film is quite powerful, and the concept of being stranded in a forest surrounded by ominous creatures is disturbing in and of itself. The film could be interpreted as a metaphor for how humans have begun to encroach on woods, which serve as a haven for many wildlife. It could serve as a warning to humans to stay away from it.

 Eli (2019)

‘Eli,’ a horror-thriller film written by David Chirchirillo, Ian Goldberg, and Richard Naing, stars Kelly Reilly, Sadie Sink, Lili Taylor, and Max Martini. The story centres around Eli, a young child who suffers from a rare disease that makes it impossible for him to live a normal life. To assist him, the protagonists’ parents transport him to Dr. Isabella Horn’s remote medical facility in the hope that he will finally receive the much-needed treatment that he sorely requires. However, Eli’s situation worsens when he becomes trapped in a haunting house.

 1922 (2017)

‘1922,’ a horror drama film written and directed by Zak Hilditch, is based on Stephen King’s novella of the same name. The film stars Thomas Jane and Neal McDonough as Wilfred “Wilf” James, a farmer who lives on a farm with his wife and children. However, when Wilfred’s wife decides to relocate to a metropolis in search of a better life, the protagonist savagely murders her without a second thought. While he is unconcerned with the horrific implications of his acts, nefarious forces soon begin to complicate life for the father-son duo.

 Hostel (2005)

‘Hostel’ is a gorefest of a film. It all starts with a group of pals who go to Amsterdam for a good time but are soon persuaded by a stranger that they should go to a hostel in Slovakia because there will be plenty of prostitutes with whom they can have fun. The hostel they visit turns out to be a truly evil and horrible place. They are quickly apprehended and their bodies are brutalized, with some of their body parts severed. The film is highly explicit and scary on multiple levels.

A clear caution would be that the film is not for the faint of heart. There is a lot of graphic violence in it. Interestingly, Quentin Tarantino, a self-professed fan of violence, is one of the film’s executive producers. The film’s director is none other than Eli Roth, the filmmaker/actor who portrayed ‘Bear Jew’ in Quentin Tarantino’s World War II blockbuster, ‘Inglourious Basterds’ (2009). Critics gave the film mixed to favorable reviews.
